public service

Founder and chairman of OPWC since 2015.

Mr Naqshbandi, also known as Naeem Abbasi, established OPWC to provide overseas Pakistanis with a representative forum for community welfare and access to public institutions.

The council was launched in London on 12 June 2015, with Pakistan’s High Commissioner, Syed Ibne Abbas, as chief guest. Its founding purpose was to bring the community together across regional and other divisions.

His public service has included membership of the Overseas Pakistanis Advisory Council and appointment as honorary UK spokesperson for Punjab’s Overseas Pakistanis Commission in 2019.

He has worked with president Haji Abid Hussain, local organisers and specialist forums to develop the council’s activities. His work combines local volunteering with sustained dialogue on consular services, travel and property concerns affecting families in Britain and Pakistan.
